Safe and Sane fireworks are allowed in the City of Tracy during specific dates and times. Only fireworks with the California State Fire Marshal seal are legal. All other fireworks are illegal.

A local ordinance allowing for the sale of Safe and Sane Fireworks within Tracy city limits was approved by the Tracy City Council in May of 2011. Qualifying 501 (c) nonprofit organizations may participate in fundraising activities through the sale of Safe and Sane Fireworks. Safe and Sane Fireworks are those that bear the official seal of the California State Fire Marshal’s Office. Fireworks that do not bear the official seal of the California State Fire Marshal are considered "dangerous fireworks" and remain illegal within the entire jurisdictional area of the South County Fire Authority.
